Dr. Rafael Tomio, DMD
General Dentist
Born and raised in Brazil, Dr. Rafael Tomio received his DDS degree in 2000. With a passion for expanding his knowledge in oral surgery, he completed a specialty degree in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in 2006.
Working exclusively as a certified Periodontist and Implantologist in Brazil for eight years, he was mentored and worked with world-leading experts in bone and gum regeneration and implant aesthetics.
In 2014, Dr. Tomio moved to Canada and continued his dental education journey receiving his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Manitoba in 2017.
Besides his love for dentistry, he is a nature enthusiast who enjoys exploring Alberta Rockies' trails, practicing martial arts, travelling abroad, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Ludmilla Ciucci, DDS
General Dentist
Dr. Ludmilla Ciucci received her DDS degree in Brazil in 2001. Her dedication to dentistry led her to pursue post-graduate studies, earning a Specialty degree in Endodontics in 2005 and an M.Sc. degree in Clinical Dentistry (Endodontics) in 2008.
Dr. Ciucci's dental journey took a unique turn when she served as a Dental Officer in the Brazilian Air Force for six years after completing her post-graduate studies. Her passion for dentistry began at a young age when she accompanied her grandmother to the dental office and was fascinated by the little jars and instruments.
In 2013, Dr. Ciucci made Canada her home and successfully completed all dental qualifying examinations to contribute to the dental health of Canadians. She actively pursues continuing education courses in Cosmetic Dentistry and Prosthodontics to enhance her skills and knowledge.
Dr. Ciucci enjoys interior design, travelling, and cooking outside of dentistry.

What Your Appointment Will Look Like
When you come in for a visit, you’ll be guided through a few different processes, all of which are done to help your dentist produce a very accurate image of your oral health and determine the extent of care that’s required to amend or enhance your smile. This includes:

A physical examination of your mouth.

X-rays

Depending on the treatment you need, impressions may be made of your teeth. This is sent to a dental lab where prosthetics and other dental devices are made. A dental crown, bridge, and dentures are some examples.

Cleaning to remove any lingering bacteria and plaque.

In accordance with the complexity and invasiveness of your treatment and sensitivity level, a local anesthesia injection may be given to you. This will keep you relaxed.
Processes like receiving a dental filling, professional teeth whitening, and having a tooth extracted only require a single appointment which can last anywhere between 60 and 90 minutes. In comparison, procedures such as acquiring a dental crown, porcelain veneers, and braces will require you to return for subsequent visits.
